plz help for this
making lfs give error in tar command im using debian 8.5
error


tar: binutils-2.25.1.tar.bz2: Cannot open: Permission denied
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

Can you give more info what binutils pass are you on
What book are you following.
Give more info to aid others if you want help.

What is the output of
Code:
ls -l $LFS/
A more discriptive title is needed for your posts "LFS" dont cut it

Tar gives that message when you try to unpack a tarball in a directory you don't have write access to. My guess is that you don't have ownership and access rights of your /sources directory set up correctly.

Check section 4.3 "Adding the LFS user". Make sure you have done everything you were told to do there.
