hmm... I don't know. I have the book right in front of me. I'll try installing ncurses again and be more carefull with the echo commands. Something else, what exactly are the files that I have to erase? I erased the files in /usr/lib and in /lib. Are there more (i guess yes)?

HERE is a copy of my ncurses-5.5 install-log. It is a list of all files installed when I last compiled ncurses-5.5. NB. I did not create non-wide character libraries at the time.

PS. Sorry about crappy download link, but you get what you pay for I would have posted it, but it was about 75000 characters too long...

no i didn't. I'll try to install ncurses once more and if it doesn't work then... I'll need a lot of patience to start over!
