Laptop Overheating during GCC-4.1.2 Pass 1

I've made it to the part where I'm trying to run the "make bootstrap" command for pass 1 of gcc-4.1.2, however my laptop overheats several minutes after beginning to run this process. Is there any way to prevent this from happening while still being able to complete pass 1 of gcc-4.1.2?

Thanks, any help greatly appreciated.

Something I learned with gentoo - get air moving past it. I used to raise the laptop off the desk, and put a deskfan blowing on it.
Cleaning the air vents would probably help too.

Oh, excellent. I raised up the laptop by putting a stapler under it and opened the window about five feet away from the computer and that seems to be taking care of the issue. Thank you very much!
