kernel 2.4.17 and frame buffer help

Havin a prob.

LFS 3.2 (Built from BIG tarball) 2.4.17

kernel compile question: I compiled the kernel and copied it over to my slak side of the house. After editing lilo and reloading lilo I rebooted. Black screen, but the system is running. I ctrl+alt+del and boot up into slack and remove the vga=791 line in lilo.conf and reload lilo. All is good except it looks like crap, I miss my small text. Make menuconfig gives me some really funky colors and blocks.

Now my question is why it doesnt give me the option to enable frame buffewr support while doing a make config or make menuconfig. I've gone through the process a few times and I know where it should be but its not there.

the only option I get is CONFIG_VGA_CONSOLE and CONFIG_VIDEO_SELECT. I tried to add the needed lines in the config file by hand but it didnt like it

Download a new kernel source tarball? 2.4.18?

make sure you've enabled erm.. "enable developement features" or something similar in the first menu on menuconfig. that'll enable a whole heap of things, including framebuffer

DOH!!
Thanks acid downloaded 2.4.18 kernel anyway. I dont know how I missed that option. Recompiled and everything is cool now.

Well I got my laptop up again with LFS/SLACK/WIN2K, This time it only took me 2 days to finish. Unlike last time, this was the only problem I had, couldnt believe it, everything installed perfectlly.
