Is x86_64 supported on standard LFS?

I want to build LFS in new 64bit platform, when follow with the step to install gcc:

Code:
# make bootstrap

/tools/x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu/bin/ld: crti.o: No such file: No such file or directory
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[3]: *** [32/libgcc_s.so] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory `/mnt/lfs/sources/gcc-build/gcc'
make[2]: *** [stmp-multilib] Error 2
make[2]: Leaving directory `/mnt/lfs/sources/gcc-build/gcc'
make[1]: *** [stage1_build] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/mnt/lfs/sources/gcc-build/gcc'
make: *** [bootstrap] Error 2
SO I google the error message, and find the below which is wrote in 2006,
http://linuxfromscratch.org/pipermai...6-February.txt

It seemes x86_64 is not supported on standard LFS, is it right? And as its hint, shall I have to try CLFS?

Thanks in advanced.
Phillip

Yes, use CLFS. The toolchain packages are built differently on 64-bit platforms. The development version of CLFS is stable for the x86_64 architecture. I also recommend using the multilib instructions, it will save you from other issues later. You may then use the CBLFS instructions rather than the BLFS instructions.

Thanks for your kindly reply. I would try multilib CLFS and update my result here.
