Install Live CD to HD?

The LFS 6.1 Live CD is as good or better than any of the lean Live CD distros that I have tried. If it could be installed to a hard drive partition, it would be an excellent starting point for a custom system build. Does anyone know of a hard drive installation script for the LFS 6.1 Live CD?

Thanks, jimbo

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I have been building a LFS system using the Live CD for a host system.

But my question was about installing the Live CD system to the hard drive. For example, Knoppix is a popular Live CD that can be used as a system booted from a CD. But the CD also has a script that will install the system to a hard drive partition. Then, you can run Knoppix from the hard drive without the CD.

Thanks, jimbo

I lot of people have the exact same question, including myself. All I've found is how to make a LiveCD out of it.

Ok, you put together your LiveCD. A bunch of friends and family members like it, they want to support you, they want to use your distro instead of SuSE. But they can't install it. Great!

the question remains..

How to make your LFS an installable distro like Debian or SuSE?

So basically you want to package your distro? well i asked this question a few weeks ago.

Go on the LFS site and read ALFS (Automated Linux From Scratch.) The purpose of ALFS is pretty much exactly what you described (i think)

ALFS is an automated build-program which will execute the commands outlined in the book, only very fast. Very handy for any experience with LFS other than your first few (during which I would not recommend that it be used... you want to understand...). It's handy for building other things, too. But it is not, in and of itself, an installer.
