initd or something of the kernel

hii
I want to update to 2.6.15 with my Pclinux OS
the problem that it doesn't create me an image file for this initd or something, How do I create it?

are you wanting to make an "initrd"???

man mkinitrd

most people don't need to do this...

EAD 03-04-2006 01:23 AM

Well how can I do it?
Is it complex?
Very hard or can I use it?

satinet 03-04-2006 04:22 AM

no it's not very hard. but i'm not sure that you would need an initrd. i dont know your os, so i can't comment on it's specific kernels. please read the man page for "mkinitrd", it explains it better than i can.....

but basically you make this little ram disk type thing, then you need to reference it in your lilo.conf (or menu.lst if using grub).

google is your friend...
