hi druuna
previously xfce was installing in root:because $PREFIX was missing
i fix that:i set $prefix=/usr and also am following as order mentioned here:http://www.xfce.org/download/building
i am installing its each and every package Dependency(-ies) in: /sources dir
actual xfce installation is in: root [/home/janu/Downloads/xc/src]#
all went k till exo-0.6.0

now -----package: xfce4-panel----------------
Dependency(-ies):libxfce4ui, exo, garcon[installed successfully] , libwnck[not yet installed]
so now libwnck:
libwnck Dependencies

....
....
CC test-selector.o
CCLD test-selector
CC test-tasklist.o
CCLD test-tasklist
GISCAN Wnck-1.0.gir
Couldn't find include 'Gtk-2.0.gir' (search path: ['.', '/usr/share/gir-1.0', '/usr/share/gir-1.0', '/usr/share/gir-1.0'])
make[2]: *** [Wnck-1.0.gir] Error 1

Shouldn't that be:

I re-installed GTK+-2.20.1 with the optional dependency called gobject-introspection-0.6.14, as I was told to do at this site: xfce forums.

Please provide complete and correct information so others can benefit when they stumble upon this thread.

hi druuna
why xfwm4-4.8.0 giving error even when i installed all its dependencies

NOTE:the xfconf package provides libxfconf, xfconf-query and xfconfd.

so xfwm4 one of dependency is :libxfconf
so i reinstalled xfconf[third package] again ,still xfwm4 giving errors xfwm4-4.8.0 errors
can you help me plz

i think xfwm/xfwm4 is window manager[note:if xfwm/xfwm4 is same like fluxbox-i can skip this xfwm installation part right??.]
i have already installed Fluxbox-1.1.1 as window manager
i think almost i done xfce desktop environment
to start xfce i need to change/add some thing to .xinitrc file right?
my xinitrc file:
root [ ~ ]# cat .xinitrc
startfluxbox

shall i add below things to xinitrc to start xfce desktop environment:

echo startxfce4 > ~/.xinitrc
echo xfce4-session > ~/.xinitrc
is this fine???

Perhaps I shouldn't be posting here but considering your plight...okay here's a hint.
READ and RESPOND to the last FOUR paragraphs of post number 60.

and you don't have to quote me if and when you reply!
