Hi spiky0011 - I went back to 6.2. Thanks.
Hi druuna - thanks for the advice. I've now honked-up access to the host (PCLinuxOS). Log-in screen only shows "root" and doesn't respond to keyboard nor mouse. Tried to ctrl-alt-f1 thru f10 to no avail. SuperGrubDisk won't boot it. Will try rescatux next.
