How to downgrade packages in LFS?(as well as upgrade)

Is it possible to downgrade the package Readline-6 to Readline-5?

I installed Readline-6 package from tarball. When i tried to install debian-keyring, it searched libreadline5 library file. So, i downloaded and installed libreadline5_5.2-3.1_i386.deb package which is a debian package without removing the existing package.

Now, should i remove Readline-6?

Please tell me the way to downgrade and upgrade packages?
