help with hibernate please
I'm trying to create a LFS 6.3 system using the Live CD.

I am trying to use the 'hibernate' command as per the documentation.

All is well and it works fine until I get to chapter 4.4 'Setting Up the Environment' of the LFS book. After I type the last line: source ~/.bash_profile, the prompt changes of course but then nothing I can do will make the system recognise the command 'hibernate', so the whole thing fails. It must surely work otherwise 'hibernate' would not be provided.

What am I missing please?

Have you seen the stop-and-resume hint?

It won't help with hibernate but it seems like that is what you are looking for.

Thanks again cyphercell for your help.

Yes I have tried to follow that hint - and the other one about using the LiveCD but they are both written for LFS version 6.1. I am using 6.3 and it just don't work! I've spent about 7 weeks now trying to sort this out. Chapter 5 is fine but I always get errors in chapter 6 which are inexplicable. It looks easy but there are significant differences between the books and clearly there is something I am not realising.

Trying hibernate was yet another desperate attempt to find a way through.

What I need is for some kind expert to re-write the hint for version 6.3 - or give me the info and I'll try it out and write it. There must be someone out there who has succeeded with the Live CD version 6.3!

Still trying, but patience is wearing very thin now!
