Help installing the LFS live cd onto a Usb Drive

Hey Guys, total LFS newbie here...
As the topic suggests, can I get help installing the LFS live cd onto my usb drive?
Yes, I read the website.
Please don't post a link to it.
I'd like just a simple, plain English version of how to do it...
As I'm VERY confused, and new to ISOs, and Live cds in general.

You can use tools like Unetbootin for that.
Keep in mind that the LiveCD will not work for LFS 7.0 and later.

Will Unetbootin set it up correctly? I tried several different tools like it to do a live usb, with no luck.

It should set it up correctly, but I haven't tried it. I used installed system when building LFS.
What exactly does not work with those tools?

abcde597 10-14-2012 10:16 PM

Well, I tried using several different tools to set it up. It WILL boot, however, neither of the two options (Linux, or Linux_64) will work, saying something along the lines of what it needs to boot cannot be found. :/ I read the LFS Live Cd website, and they have instructions on how to do it, however, they're EXTREMELY foggy on key details, in my opinion.

Ok, tried Unetbootin; It does work, and boot; however, it cannot find /lib/, and refuses to go on.

Hi
Please dont use the old live cd version it will not build
The current version of lfs as mentioned. You would be better with a live distro made persistent

abcde597 10-15-2012 04:37 AM

Well, I can see what you mean, but I don't mind having outdated software as a trade for a stable environment for building LFS in.

spiky0011 10-15-2012 05:00 AM

All system will build if compliant have a look at link in my sig

abcde597 10-15-2012 01:17 PM

Well, My issue is I'm constantly traveling, so I don't always have access to my box, and it's inconvenient to telnet or SSH. I'm just looking for instructions on how to put the bootable LFS live CD on a USB drive...

abcde597 10-15-2012 01:19 PM

And I don't wish to create a new ISO, I'd like to use the one LFS provided.

spiky0011 10-15-2012 01:24 PM

As you wish, which book will you be using?

abcde597 10-15-2012 02:41 PM

I will be using version 6.3 of the book.
Again, can I get help putting the LFS live CD (The one provided) on my USB drive?
That's my reason for starting this thread in the first place.

What do you mean it wont find /lib?

abcde597 10-15-2012 02:58 PM

I tried putting the ISO image I downloaded through Unetbootin, and it did start, though it started putting the same message Cannot find /lib/(There's more to it) repeatedly onto the screen, followed by a kernel panic
I tried a Ctrl-C, with no results.
I'm guessing the ISO was put together in an odd way; And because of that the filesystem isn't mounting properly.
I've got about 3 years of Linux under my belt, but this is beyond me.
