I succeeded in getting the project to a finish with Slackware 10.2 and the LFS Live CD. Try using a host with gcc3.x.

Thanks for the reply, but cnt I just use Slackware. Can you elaborate on what all u did on slackware and on Live Cd separately......And more importatnly how you got the whole thing togather...

I personally suggest using Slackware. Using the Live CD is pretty slow and if you configure your Slackware host properly you shouldn't have any problems. What I did is this, installed Slackware specially for the LFS build (Slack 10.2) updated it to slackware-current using swaret. I installed it full and updated full just to make sure. Afterwards I installed latest 2.6.x kernel (at that time - now is available you can use it). just compile de kernel to suid your needs, with support for all your components and get on with the show. If you follow the book step by step you shouldnt have any problems. Don't forget to read the Errata and apply the patches listed there all the time you compile the listed programs, this is very important if using the latest 2.6 kernel especially. Good Luck.
