Green Screen

Hello,

I have this issue with this green screen that comes up in my boot process.

Here is what happens:
After I compile my kernel I boot up into GRUB (in place of Lilo)
I hit the LFS selection and it proceeds normally
The normal kernel message start flying by, then about 4
second after I hit the enter key this green screen of death
pops up. I can't do anything after that but press the power button on my computer

I assume it is in the kernel startup procedure (before it gets to my inittab)
since none of the init-script messages come up (though I did choose to use BSD-init from the hin though).
I have a Nvidia Riva TNT2 16mb graphics card. I don't have vga= in my kernel parameters.
Right now I am trying to compile the kernel without optimizations hoping that will work. I'll tell ya if it does.

Any suggestions?

Check if you enabled Framebuffer support in the kernel. If so, disable that, then try to boot again.

This is what I did

...I re-compiled Red-hat's 7.2 kernel (2.4.9-13 I think) with reiserfs support built-in (since that is what I made my /). Then, I copied it to the LFS system and it worked. I assume it is a kernel problem related either to how I compiled it (I'm willing to bet that was it), or there is something wrong with the kernel (i.e. a bug, but I doubt that).

I'm gonna continue testing the kernel until I get it right.

Thanks for your support with LFS Beekmans, I appreciate it.
