Hi everyone,

I am up to chapter 6.11 “Glibc-2.3.4-20040701” in the LFS-BOOK-6.0, and am experiencing some problems with the Glibc install.

After typing the configure command from the glibc-build directory as specified:
../glibc-2.3.4-20040701/configure --prefix=/usr \
--disable-profile --enable-add-ons=nptl --with-tls \
--with-__thread --enable-kernel=2.6.0 --without-cvs \
--libexecdir=/usr/lib/glibc \
--with-headers=/tools/glibc-kernheaders

I receive the configure error:
*** These critical programs are missing or too old: ld
*** Check the INSTALL file for required versions.

I have looked all over for an answer to fix this, but I am unable to find anything, and can’t continue with my LFS install.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you actually done what the error message tells you to do?? what version of ld does glibc need? what version of ld do you have?
