GCC-4.4.3 - Pass 2 - Which file to patch?

Im at GCC-4.4.3 - Pass 2 in chapter 5.10 where i am to apply a patch..
Code:
patch -Np1 -i ../gcc-4.4.3-startfiles_fix-1.patch
Then it asks which file to patch:
Code:
patch -Np1 -i ./gcc-4.4.3-startfiles_fix-1.patch
can't find file to patch at input line 22
Perhaps you used the wrong -p or --strip option?

So i just want to be sure which file to patch, is it in the previous installation of GCC-4.4.3 or the one being installed next in this chapter? Either way, what do i tell it to patch?

Hi,

you are not in gcc's source directory when you are trying to apply the patch. cd into gcc's source directory and then
Code:
patch -Np1 -i ../gcc-4.4.3-startfiles_fix-1.patch
Also read this section again:
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/...tructions.html
Not following the third one is the problem in this case.
