I just did some reading about the new license for XFree86 and the fact that it conflicts with the GPL. I am thinking that it might be a learning experience to try out using freedesktop's Xserver. I was wondering if anyone here has done the same under LFS?

One big question I have is: for those of you who do use Xserver, what graphics card are you using?

I currently have an Nvidia (a bit old...GeForce Ti), but from what I have read there is no support for Nvidia under Xserver. Yes, I can certainly continue to use 4.3 with no difficulty, but I like to think ahead...I also like experimenting with my system constantly.

I have a working NVidia Riva TNT2 working with XFree86. I'm using Slack Current, but still, it's XF86, and Slack doesn't edit other packages really, only their own.
