Error while installing bash-4.2 in Para. 5.15.1 of LFS Book SVN-20110904
Hi,
While installing bash-4.2 I get the following error:
Code:
lfs:/sources/bash-4.2$ make
yacc -d ./parse.y
make: yacc: Command not found
make: *** [y.tab.c] Error 127
I removed the file and re-downloaded it in case 1st one was somehow corrupted but no help. I've had no errors up to this point. Any help will be appreciated.
I have a Dell Inspiron 530S multibooted with Win 7 and several Linux distros. I'm trying to build LFS on partitions in an external hard drive that has openSUSE installed.
Thank you for your help. You are correct. Bison wasn't installed on my host (PCLinuxOS 2010.12). I had read the requirements but since they stated that recent linux distros probably came with them installed, I neglected to verify that they were indeed installed. I appreciate your help.
One question regarding binutils. Requirements state not to use a revision later than 2.21.1a; however the Synaptic Pkg. Mgr. shows revision installed as 2.21.52.0.2.20110610. How should I deal with this?
In general, if you see a message like this: Versions greater than X.Y.Z. are not recommended as they have not been tested and your version is a minor/build number higher, you are probably safe (you can at least give it a try). X.Y.Z => Major.Minor.Build number.
