epiphany installation as listed in BLFS

Hi, I have a question...

Is the installation of epiphany mandatory for GNOME to work? or can I skip that step and go for something like Firefox?

You don't need Epiphany to run gnome. Just use Firefox. The book makes it quite clear which are the core Gnome packages and which are the additional ones you can install "on an as needed or as wanted basis."
I see Gnome 2.8 is out. I might have a look at that at the weekend.
