emu10k1 - no sound
I've installed the LFS base system, and everything works fine!
I've changed to the 2.6.8.1 kernel and installed the ALSA system.
So far everything works, the modules loads at boat and alsactl loads the settings.
The problem now is, I've got no sound.
I've checked in the alsamixer program that the Master is at full volume and unmuted, and it is. I try to play a song with mplayer, and mplayer starts streaming sound, but I can't hear anything.
This soundcard works on my Slackware system, and I got the exact same modules loaded for the sound on my Slack and LFS system.
I'm using Sound Blaster Live!.

It seems that the problem was not that the modules or ALSA didn't work, because the sound came out when I played something as root.
I tried to start alsamixer as my normal user, but then it said something like snd_..... : Permission denied.

on my LFS box, I put /dev/dsp, /dev/mixer, and even /dev/music in their own group.........and added my user to this group..........
make a new group like......"audio"
LFS usually puts these devices in the "sys' group.............you can add
your user to this group instead of making a new one...........
