deb vs tgz pkg

I need pkg manager for my lfs and I don't know witch to use deb or tgz. Witch is better?

KptnKrill 10-19-2003 07:42 AM

that's a matter of personal opinion.

Hi kvikki,

tgz doesn't relate to package management. Generally .tgz files are gzipped tar archives of source code- i.e. you need to compile the software yourself rather than install precompiled binary packages (a la Windows)

I was talking about slackware tgz pkg. I am going to use checkinstall make pkg so I can uninstall and upgrade pkg later

Like kptnkrill suggested, this is really a matter of what your comfortable with and or your choosing. You could use any of them really or even install both to use.
