custom distro: music player

I'm planning to make a custom distro which i can boot from a usb flash drive which does nothing but play mp3 files from a specified directory on the host computer's hdd. Which packages would I need to include to play the mp3 files?
The only functions i need will be play, pause, next, previous, fast forward and rewind once the directory is selected so i don't think songbird or anything along those lines would be necessary.
Just a simple command line player would probably do the job.
Its kind of like a jukebox I can use while doing work to avoid distractions. It will also be useful to be able to leave it running during parties so people won't be able to fiddle with my computer.
Any help/advice would be welcome

Mplayer can be ran from console with out A GUI.

Me. I live in the USA. So I run Pianobar (console player for pandora)
It keeps me from storing Music.

Needed dependencies will be stated in the read me. You will need something like build-essentials like in Debian to compile from source files to make a /usr/bin file so you can launch it in terminal. That
is if your custom made distro is source based. If deb or rpm based. There should be pre made binary installable packages available.

Since you are a custom distro maker. You probably already know what to do and what is needed to make these simple command line players work.

Thanks rokytnji, I have used mplayer before but didn't know it could be used solely with a cli... Which I realise was stupid since I just found out it was originally a cli application with different gui frontends!
