current situation How to go about installing LFS

Hi

I have a dual boot machine Win 98+Slack91(reiserfs)

I want to try LFS as it will be a good learning.

The book says that I have to create a partition.

Now I have a 40 G HDD

When I installed win98 I partitioned it as follows

C:\ 10G
D:\12G
E:\4G

After using Win 98 for sometime I installed Lnux by deleting E:\ and repartitioning

Problem is I cannot find my remaining space of 14g.

Do i have to format the whole machine again

Also when i issue the df -h command I find that I have 2.3G in root

Please help

Thanks
Ninad

Indeed, what does cfdisk show? You can run cfdisk from the Slackware 9.1 first instalation CD so you can alter the whole hard drive. None of it is mounted if you've booted from a CD.
