Angry creating directories and permissions

on giving the command chmod -R 775/uo1/app for oracle installation, i keep getting the reply "chmod: too few arguments". if ignored and installation continued with, i end up instaling oracle 10g but it does not show up in program menu and so cant be launched. what do i do??
