Console screen size

I compiled in all the correct settings into my kernel and rebooted and booted up the new kernel and still only get this damn 640x480 console size. I even went as far as to just copy the kernel from my gentoo partition and use it and still get the same thing. I looked into the log and notice it does infact use the desired 1280x1024 screen size then a few lines down it switches:
Console: switching to colour frame buffer device 80x30
This must be something in LFS boot scripts telling it to switch like this cause no matter what I do it always comes back with this. I did not configure the /etc/sysconfig/console at all as to no run into this problem. Anyone know where this console setting is at so I can remove it.
Thx.

If you're using grub, add a vga entry. Like:

vga=773

Ya I set it to 794, or 791. But anyway setting that will only last a few seconds until the LFS scripts take over and reset the console mode back down again. Ive even got the 1280x1024@60 resolution compiled into the kernel options so I dont have to set those values and still at the same point the bootscipts are changing the resolution. I cant seem to find it anywhere in the scripts.

the lfs bootscripts don't do anything to the console fonts by default.
you had to have changed something from the book.
go back over and check again.
