Ch. 6.18 GCC Pass 2 question

LFS Version 11.0
Do I unpack the GMP, MPFR, and MPC tarballs into the $LFS/sources directory, or the gcc sub-directory $LFS/sources/gcc-11.2.0 ?

Can't remember what I did the first time around!

I _think_ I figured it out...
looking again at the first line of instructions,

Quote:
tar -xf ../mpfr-4.1.0.tar.xz
the double-dot-slash indicates that the tarball is to be in the parent directory ($LFS/sources), while I am in the subdirectory ($LFS/sources/gcc-11.2.0).

No, you should be in the gcc folder unpack them there and then move them see:

Based on some experiments, it seems either approach will have the same outcome, as tar extracts the archive into the directory from which the command is run.
