Can not boot from LFSLiveCD, the CD is correct

Hey everyone,

I have download the liveCD from official website of LFS. It do works on my current laptop A. I have got a laptop B just which is changed it's motherboard. I want to install and follow the LFS book to learn linux. The laptop B is installed win7 on it for checking. The setting of BIOS of laptop B is corrent, the CD is burned correct. I tried to boot the system by liveCD on laptop B. But it turns out the it always boots to win7.Does anyone have the same experience?

Could any helps me out?

Same question you asked before:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...livecd-887613/

Again, the only reason your laptop won't boot from CD/DVD is that you've either got a bad CD/DVD burn, or a bad CD/DVD drive. You say the BIOS is correct, so those are the only other options. Does LaptopB have a CD drive or a DVD drive? If you're putting a DVD into a CD drive, it won't work, no matter WHAT the BIOS settings are.

it works on another laptop with the same cd/dvd drive. And i have checked the cd by laptop B after it boots into win7, and the data on the cd could be seen by laptop B.

The only other thing I can think of, I have seen some machines that will not boot to a drive that is set to cable select. Does the same thing happen if you access the "one time boot menu" and select the cd/dvd-rom?

Good luck. ;-)

Hi,

The LFS liveCD is rather old and the LFS team mentions the following (source):

Note

The LFS LiveCD might not work on newer hardware configurations, failing to boot or failing to detect some devices such as some SATA hard drives.
Hope this helps.
