can not boot by LFS liveCD
Hey,
I am new to LFS, actually just from couple hours ago. I tried to burn the liveCD on a DVD and tried to use it to boot my laptop. But the system always boots to Win7 which is installed before. I want to build LFS system on my laptop as the only system. I have tried to check the BOIS, the first option to boot from is CD-ROM. Could anyone tell me how to solve this problem? |
Ok 1st hi, You say you have set bios to boot from cd, Is it a dvd rom? as you have bunt to dvd.
Did you check the md5um of iso Did you burn the iso image to disc? as an iso image |
Thanks for relying :P
I have just checked the BOIS, there is no option for DVD. I could only change the orders. I use to burn Ubuntu on a DVD for installation and boot the system. Yes, i have burned it to a disk as a iso file. I will try to burn a new one tomorrow. |
Also burn it at the slowest speed and check the md5sum of iso is correct
|
Thanks for helping:P
Cloud you tell me where i could find md5sum of the original file. |
In some odd cases a cd image won't burn correctly to boot to some systems when put on dvd.
Try burning a cd instead. Might be easy to try to boot it to a virtual machine just to check image being bootable. Qemu is easy enough just to check. Heck, I'd install some VM anyway and just use it for your testing and building if it is just for learning. |
thanks, i have never thought that way.

the md5 should be at the same site you downloaded the image
|
You can download the live cd here The md5sum for lfslivecd-x86-6.3-r2145-nosrc.iso
