Build time and saving of work

I realize these may be very basic questions but how long does it generally take to get a LFS basic system up and running? Is it possible to build a little and "save" my work and then return to it later, or do I have to do the whole thing in one sitting. Can I turn off the computer in between steps and return to where I left off? I want to use the liveCD for my build environment.

more than 24 hours I think, depend on CPU.
I need around three hours to compile glibc only.

yes, you can stop between step. just notice a few instruction in LFS Book when you stop and try to continue later.

Cool, thanks. That's not as bad as I was thinking.
