BLFS 8.1 - ISC DHCP error on boot

Got the 8.1 system working the other day, yay. Starting on adding BLFS things. Added ISC DHPC (client only) and then added the boot script as in the book.

Odd message every boot:
Code:
Dec 29 19:11:07 -05:00 azura Bringing up the enp14s0 interface... Dec 29 19:11:07 -05:00 azura
Unable to process /etc/sysconfig/ifconfig.enp14s0. Either the SERVICE 'dhclient was not present or cannot be executed. FAIL
Dec 29 19:11:07 -05:00 azura Starting ISC DHCP Server dhcpdFAIL
If, after logging in as root, type "dhclient" with no parameters, the server starts and I can then ping things and use links to access web sites.

The /etc/sysconfig/ifconfig.enp14s0 and /etc/dhclient.conf files appear to be correct.

I am perplexed and unsure what to do. Can anyone please advise?

Thank you.

Dose the "wired interface name match" enp14s0 of is it named something else?
Is dhclient starting before interface?

enp14s0 is confirmed as the actual interface name. Same in 8.1 as in 8.0.

From the nature of the error, I suspect that dhcpd is starting before the enp14s0 interface is up.

Been comparing config files between my (current working) 8.0 system and the 8.1 system. I begin to suspect that something is actually wrong with the LFS boot script(s). Arg. This means I'll have to add an on-boot kludge to spawn the dhcpd process. And then hope this doesn't cause problems when I eventually put Network-Manager in.

Well, despite what I said in my previous post, I didn't want to kludge. Kludging is what when does when one runs a distro that does things its way and you'd better conform or not, so you have to work around it. But this is my own system compiled according to the LFS 8.1 book, darnit!

Having determined that I could not figure out the cause of the problem, it was time to try a different route. Because every package since GCC in chapter 6 was made into a package, it was easy to remove the DHCP package. Removing the lfs-bootscript related to starting DHCP at boot-time was a bit less easy, as there was not an uninstall command for those. Manual searching through the file system eventually sorted that.

Rebooted to make sure all was stable. At last, no error messages during boot-up. Yay.

At that point, as expected, my LFS 8.1 had no net access. But, there are *two* DHCP to choose from in the LFS book. So I compiled, packaged up and installed the other one: dhcpcd. Followed that with an install of the LFS bootscript for it, rebooted annnnnnd ... net without any problems.
