Unhappy Binutils error: Source directory already configured; run make distclean there first?!

HI everyone

First of all hello to everyone this is my first question in this forum. I have a problem when trying to follow the chapter 5.12 of the LFS book. When i try to make the binutils 2.16.1 source i receive the following error:

checking for style of include used by make... GNU
configure: error: source directory already configured; run "make distclean" there first
make: *** [configure bfd] Error 1

I already make the "make-distclean" but i still receive the same error. Is there something that i forgot or something that i made wrong?. Is there anyway to manually get rid of this error?. I was trying to look at google but i have no luck.

Thanks a lot for your help and best regards

Hi again

nevermind...i finally found what was the source of my problem. My problem was that i was running the "make distclean" command in the wrong binutils folder. Sorry for this question.

Anyway. Thank you for everyone!!

Binutils-2.22

SO, This error can be resolve by running "make distclean" into the directory of binutils-2.22 instead of binutils-buil

Thanks

binutils

i got the same error encountered by the user which is
checking for style of include used by make... GNU
configure: error: source directory already configured; run "make distclean" there first
make: *** [configure bfd] Error 1

and I did resolve it already by running make distclean at the directory binutils-2.22 instead of binutils-build.

I'm mentioning this here as the other user just mentioned that he was running the make distclean in a different directory and I did like to be more specific.

Thanks

Ahmed
