Anyway. I don't think it's really necessary for them to work so hard to release a periodic stable BLFS version. I've gotten used to building BLFS systems from the development versions. I'm doing that now and will continue on with it. Nevertheless, a new stable BLFS book is now available.

P.S.: For some additional news, I think extracting Udev from Systemd source has gotten increasingly complicated for Bruce Dubbs to do as Systemd expands its entanglement into more and more components of Linux. I think they're planning a switch to an alternative like Eudev for the LFS book. I had already been experimenting with Eudev and found it to be acceptable for me, but I still extracted Udev from Systemd as the new LFS book says. As far as I can tell, LFS will somehow or another continue on for now as two separate branches vis-a-vis Systemd (or not).

I agree unless they lock udev at 208 until further notice and only patch as needed. I noticed they have the systemd book as well.

Eudev is a viable alternative but there's also mdev as well. The only thing with mdev is it lacks certain automount functions, but it brings to question if hotplug could be revived specifically for it to serve as an intermediary subsystem for mdev. There's also hotplug2 from one of the WRT projects, openwrt I think.

The only issue with going away from udev is anything that used udev or even gudev would cease to function and couldn't be built. x11-input-evdev comes to mind, but for me, that driver's completely useless anyway. I have to always go back to the older standardized mouse, keyboard, and joystick separated drivers.
