I know exactly what I want , enlightenment desktop with all the themes , mplayer with the plugins and codecs tvtime for tv veiwing , and rythmbox for music and streaming radio ect open office and a couple of apps besides what are the chances of me [ who has no programing skills ] achieving what I want?

I would say read thru the table of contents of the Beyond LFS book.........
For what you want to do, are the program you need listed in there??

if so then build a basic LFS system and then go thru the BLFS book and
set things up the way you want.............the LFS motto is: your distro,
your rules!!

Your chances are pretty good!
But you will have some work to do...
You do not need programming skills to build LFS and anything beyond that - I myself have next to none - and I'm running Gnome 2.6.1 with almost everything thats in it - including rhythmbox...
KDE-3.2.2 - which I never use BTW - and everything (and a lot more) you want - except enlightenment - it looks really cool and everything, but one can only use one thing - and I'm using Gnome...
