after LFS initial boot

I get to bin/bash login prompt. However I can't cd to any of my folders and /dev only has console and null in it. I tried creating a user but wasn't allowed to. It did however create an /etc/skel. If I go in through chroot and do all the mounts I can see everthing in /dev. I guess my question is "How do I start BLFS if I can't see anything?"

Ok I figured out the bash shell. If you cd to a directory, there is no indication you are in that directory. But once you're in lets say /dev, you can type 'dir' and it will show all the files and directories. I still can't create a user though.

What error are you getting when you try to create a user? Who are you logging in as?
