Question advice on new laptop

I am thinking of getting a new laptop, and am considering, either a lenovo yoga with android or a chromebook, and I would like to know if anyone has tried putting LFS on either of them, as a dual boot, is it even possible?

So, I can only give my opinion...

Yoga's suck. Which is to say, Lenovo releases them and immediately forgets they exist. They do NOT update the BIOS/Firmware to keep up with security vulnerabilities that can be patched in firmware. They don't release firmware fixes to fix issues. They simply release them and forget them. If you get a lenovo, get a full Thinkpad, or don't get a Lenovo. My opinion. Others may vary. Feel free to ignore as well if security doesn't matter to you.

As to the Chromebooks, there are some nice ones out there, but the vast majority still only have 4 GB ram, which is really starting to show it's limitations even with ChromeOS. I personally happen to love my Chromebook though, a HP Chromebook 13 G1 running mr. chromebox firmware with q4os trinity on it. With Crosstini allowing you to install Debian software to make up for the limitation of ChromeOS, if you have fairly simple demands for what you need from a computer, ChromeBooks are a good choice IMO.

As far as dual booting, it's possible (but IMO not needed) on the Chromebooks at least. May or may not work, and not sure about dual-booting LFS. IMO, if you put linux on a chromebook there's no point in keeping ChromeOS, so I always do linux OR ChromeOS, have never dual-booted them in my life. AS far as an Android Yoga, I'd doubt it, and regular Yoga's definitely could...

There's nothing wrong with Lenovo's hardware, I'm just exceedingly unimpressed with the fact that Lenovo doesn't release bios updates for their lines other than the Thinkpad. So while HP/Dell/ASUS/Acer gets updates that help protect them from the latest vulnerabilities that have been discovered, Lenovo does not. For some people they wouldn't care, so this doesn't matter. If you're one of them, then there's nothing wrong with Lenovo. I do care, so I don't like non Thinkpad Lenovo's.

Many of the members of my LUG swear by Thinkpads, but they won't look twice at a Yoga and wouldn't use a Chromebook on a bet.

I have two Zareasons that I'm very happy with.

Hey Keith,
The last two laptops I have bought were 1- HP Elite Book 8670 2-Dell Latitude E6440. I have been very
impressed with the Dell. The old HP still gets the job done. I use it to try all the different
Linux systems
Regards
Danny

Save yourself some money and aggravation, get an old Dell with 4GB Ram expandable to eight and a CPU running at 2.2GHz or better. Just a suggestion.

For example at ebay
