A question on ALSA package

Hi folks,

BLFS 6.1

I'm prepared to install following packages to solve the sound problem.
alsa-firmware-1.0.9.tar.bz2
alsa-lib-1.0.9.tar.bz2
alsa-plugins-1.0.9-no_jack-1.patch
alsa-plugins-1.0.9.tar.bz2
alsa-tools-1.0.9.tar.bz2
alsa-utils-1.0.9a.tar.bz2

I have no idea whether I need to add alsa-oss-1.0.9.tar.bz2 as well. Please advise.

What is alsa-oss-1.0.9.tar.bz2 for?

TIA

B.R.

I reckon the oss stand for Open Sound System.
This is a set of drivers for soundcards based on closed source drivers.
If you have it installed install that package as well.
Otherwise you can just as well omit it, unless you're planning to install oss later.
