I am currently at chapter 2.5.1 trying to configure glibc.

I get this error:

checking for .preinit_array/.init_array/.fini_array support... no
configure: error: Need linker with .init_array/.fini_array support.

I use Ubuntu Hardy(8.04)

glibc is built twice, which section are you having problems with? Also, read section 1.5. Section 1.5 gives you some pointers on how to get help if you need it while building your system.

I encountered the error at the first build.
I'm using version 6.3 of the book.



EDIT: ok, I looked in the config.log file:

configure:5491: checking for .preinit_array/.init_array/.fini_array support

configure:5523: error: Need linker with .init_array/.fini_array support.

ld is version 2.17

EDIT2: I worked my way around it by setting CC="gcc -B/usr/bin". Even so, If you know how to fix that error, please post, since it's still there in my /tools/bin
