Windows guy needs to learn Linux fast! help?!?
OK, I've been a Windows administrator for a LONG time, but I just got a bunch of RHEL 5 servers thrown in my lap. Me being able to properly spell Linux is the extent of my Linux knowledge unfortunately. Anyone have some ideas on what I should read to quickly get myself up to speed and to be able to support them? Right now I can log into the servers, and that's about it.
Many thanks! |
Naughty, naughty. You're not supposed to post threads in more than one forum.

Sorry!
I wasn't sure which one it belonged in, so I posted in both. I couldn't figure out how to crosspost either so then it would have only been one post like i wanted.

especially the sysadmin guide: SAG good luck. If I were you, even though you will hate it at first. sit down for a day or so and learn the vi editor (e.g: vim/gvim has a tutorial) type vimtutor in a terminal. it will hold you in good stead, and it really isn't that hard if you just get on and do it. it is like a little distillation of unix, with the regular expressions and general feel. |
