vsftpd dead but subsys locked

Hi to All,

This problem i have faced in most of the applications. When I installed Plesk 8.2 or vsftpd ,and restart the relevany services , i always get the same message, like:

vsftpd dead but subsys locked
psa dead but subsys locked

I changed the default port no. of plesk from its conf file and it started running. If i change the ftp port no. this will also work. But this is so.Why default port nos. are conflicting ?Is there any SElinux issue, as it seems to me .

Please clarify

how do you start your vsftpd service,is it through xinet?
I would advise to use vsftpd as a standalone
Quote:
chkconfig vsftpd on
service vsftpd restart

do you have xinetd turned on?

Quote:
chkconfig --list xinetd
If it is, paste the output of chkconfig --list

The output is:

# chkconfig --list xinetd
xinetd 0ff 1ff 2ff 3n 4n 5n 6ff

and when i open /usr/local/psa/admin/logs/httpsd_error_log file:

Processing config directory:/usr/local/psa/admin/conf/httpsd.*.include
[Sat sep 1 11:20:12 2007] [crit] (98)Address already in use:make_sock:could not bind to port 8443

Now can you please help me how to fix this issue.

as I was trying to tell you before, you xinetd is causing the trouble. If you do not use its services please shut it down.
Quote:
chkconfig --level 345 xinetd off

/usr/local/psa/admin/logs/httpsd_error_log file:
