Hi, I have the same motherboard, and am running mandriva 2008 spring ed, ubuntu8-04, vista ultimate, xp prof all on one disk

perhaps you might want to format and make fresh partitions, many a times this solves the problem

Or try this http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filt...s=39&submit=Go!

My recent unresolved issues with Linux installation on a new PC with the same Motherboard has brought me to bump this thread. (Link1, Link2, Link3)
Im trying to install on the same MoBo with similar config:
Code:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
2.4GHz 8MB cache 1066MHz
Intel Desktop MotherBoard DG33
8GB DDR2 RAM 800MHz Transcend (4 x 2GB)
1GB 8600 GT nVidia Graphics Card
500 SATA HDD Western Digital
I did do Select the option for 'Configure SATA As', and change the entry to IDE. Still in vain. So I switched it back to AHCI.

On the other hand Vista Beta 2 which I got long ago installed perfectly.

I could not boot to instal linux from a CD;
I could install XP from CD.
The way I got gentoo on was to copy the boot CD to a harddisk
partition using another computer & boot from the harddisk partition.
I gave up getting anything else to work. I simply
run it as a compute server with text video, using a T100 ethernet card
(not the built-in 1G).

I ordered free Ubuntu 8.04 64-bit CD online and its installed perfectly with SATA configured as AHCI.
I've been using it with no problems at all since I installed it a week back.
Ubuntu is real smooth.

solution to acpi problem on intel dg33fb

While acpi=off at least allows the Linux to boot that creates some other issues. The correct solution for me was to set Video memory at the Bios configuration to the minimum value (128Mb in my case). That allows normal booting.
