Suse ent 9.0 setting Env variables not staying.

I am attempting to install and configure eDir 8.8 in ent 9.0. I am trying to export some ent variables. The variables get exported to the environment. I check using env | grep novell and I get back my results that I want...but when I close down the terminal and re-open and check again there not there...HELP! Oh im using root

this is correct behaviour, those variables need to be exported per login or on boot. you can add them to script files like /etc/profile which will be executed each time a terminal is opened. or /etc/rc.local (if suse uses it) which will run on boot once, and afaik values exported there will be inherited per login.
