sound card problem


hi all,
i am using xmms player to play music,getting error no mixture or device found.

lspci -v | grep -i audio

it give no o/p.

configuration

945 gnt motherboard
3.0 ht processer
80 gb harddisk
1 gb hddr 2 ram(5122)(stata)
os RHEL4(2.6)

can any one tell me which driver to load ? and how to know my sound card version or name

The distro you are using doesn't currently support that motherboard. The audio device should show up in lspci as device id 00:1b.0. To get audio support, you will need to download, build, and install alsa 1.0.11. I recommend getting the driver, libs, and utils. This should give you full audio support for your system (5.1 or 7.1, depending on the back panel port configuration).

One note, the speaker-test in 1.0.11 is currently broken, so it won't play in surround sound mode (-Dplug:surround51 option is broken).
