Post Setting font in one console doesnt override the default setting

I am using RHEL 5.0
I want to change the sytem's default font for my application

I have executed the following 3 lines in command line:
setfont /lib/kbd/consolefonts/cp866-8x16.psf.gz
mapscrn /lib/kbd/consoletrans/cp866_to_uni.trans
My application works fine with these commands. I have set the TERM as linux

But whenever i login to another console(Alt F3), the fonts set in my previous console are getting changed automatically.

Can anyone please tell me in which configuration file, i need to change to change the syytem default font loading

Thanks in advance
