Question Setting environment variables for NS2 installation over enterprize linux

I have installed NS2, the network simulator. It requires modification of env variables PATH, TCL_LIBRARY, and LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
I modified /etc/profile. It worked for the first two, but did'nt for the last one.
I am using enterprise Linux.
Could anybody help?
