RHEL 6 REPO's

Hi

I have installed Redhat Enterprise 6.2 and im having real problems using YUM, everything seems to say its not found and "Nothing to do" for normal apps like vncserver and ftp and telnet.

How or where to i get the normal repo's from so i can start installing all the normal stuff?

Thanks

Chris

Did you pay for it? If not, then you will need to manually download the needed rpm's, since it will not be a paid service, and you will not have access to the normal repositories.

Could you post the currently active repositories on your system for me? They should be located in /etc/yum.repos.d/

And that, my friend, may be your problem.... You can't just expect to change something without knowing if it even exists. I would pick any file you did this to, open it in a text editor, and copy/paste the url into a browser, and see what it gives you. Take it from there, and see what you need to change in order to get it to work.

I dont really understand why there is not just a set of repo's that i can install or put into this directory which will give me what i need.

So if this was a new installation of redhat enterprise where would i get the repo's from to add here as i had nothing in this folder before i added these and it as got me a few things installed.

Thanks

Chris

Well, if you paid for it and are having problems, why don't you call RedHat support?? You're paying for that too, and since this is a problem with your paid-for system, they will certainly help you with it, and be able to walk you through how to fix it.

Here's a crazy thought: why not get the official Red Hat repos working first, before you go adding epel and rpmforge to the mix?
