RHCE Lab test
 

Pls Can any one tell me

Doing lab test at the end of the each chapter is enough, to get through the RHCE exam, because I do not have time for attend the class

The answer to that most likely depends on how familiar you are with RedHat, and Linux in general, already.

I would say that it is probably not enough.

I did the training, and was one of two out of 38 people to pass the RHCE the first time through. There were a lot of folks that knew linux better than I did in that class, but like every vendor-specific certification, they are testing you on the things that THEY want you to know, not just your general knowledge.

I don't think this is a bad thing in the case of Red Hat - the things they taught were sensible, useable, and flexible.

Now, on the other hand, the test is strictly based on functionality - they don't care HOW you do things, as long as they get done according to spec.

If you aren't going to do the classes, or don't think you need to, then I would advise you to go through the course material very closely. If you know the book stuff well, and can do the exercises, labs, and tests in the book, then you have a good chance at the test.

But don't forget practical, hands-on practice. The tests are timed. You should have a good grasp of how to prioritize things.

Last note - yes you CAN look at man pages during the test. But if you have to look at man pages during the test frequently, you won't get everything done in time.

Good luck! It's a great test and a very good certification that provides a great base of knowledge upon which to build.

Damn, 2 out of 38 people???

I have been using Redhat for the last 5 years or so and haven't really strayed away to other distro's and I'm planning on taking it this summer. Did you take any of the classes before you took the test?
