resolv.conf written over on reboot (oel 6.3 64bit)

it appears that the resolv.conf file is being written over on a reboot,
after rebooting this is what it looks like:
#No namservers found; try putting the DNS servers into your
#ifcfg files in /etc/sysoncfig/network-scripts like so:
search LCCC.EDU
#
# DNS1=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
# DNS2=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
# DOMAIN=lab.foo.com bar.foo.com
-----------------------------------------
prior to the reboot this is what it contained:
# No nameservers found; try putting DNS servers into your
# ifcfg files in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts like so:
#

nameserver 10.2.5.90
nameserver 10.2.5.92
search LCCC.EDU

It literally suggests what to do: "try putting the DNS servers into your ifcfg files in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth*"?..
