are there any clues in the system logs ?
like
/var/log/boot.log
/var/log/messages
/var/log/dmesg
/var/log/Xorg.0.log

The boot log has the messages referenced in the initial post. Nothing in dmesg or messages that appear to be related. There is no Xorg log. I would like to know what Set Up Additional Binary Formats is for and if it can be by-passed or timed out.

#1- What changed

I did ask this question and the reply was that the system has been dormant for a while.
The system was ipled and this problem occurred. Quite possible since I receive the same
error with the current kernel and previous kernel. So I am trying to understand what
the looping process is and if this process can be corrected, interrupted or bypassed.
