Problem mounting USB hard drive

I am attempting to attach a USB hard drive to a Red Hat Enterprise v3 server and have so far not been able to get beyond an error message like

usb.c: USB device 6 (vend/prod 0x67b/0x23007) is not claimed by any active driver.

I have used modprobe to load the module usb-storage (as advised in other threads on linuxquestions.org) but am obviously still missing some module or modules -- the other threads I have seen all seem to refer to distros other than Enterprise v3. The server's working hard drives are all scsi drives, so the scsi modules should be loaded. Has anyone else been able to successfully attach a USB hard drive or similar device to Enterprise v3? If so, what additional modules did you have to load (or what additional procedures were necessary?

Thanks in advance,

kernelbuster
