minimum hardware requirements for RHEL 4. (newbie).

Are there any minimum requirements for running RHEL 4 besides the much documented supported systems, such as minimum RAM, available space and monitors and/or other devices.

You don't want to have less than 256MB of RAM in your system if you want to run RHEL 4, especially with an X desktop. I also wouldn't go much slower than a 500mhz CPU, either.

Would also like to know how much space this os requires and would I be assuming correctly the file systems supported would be HFS+ and HFS?

you will require minimum 600 MB of disk space for minimal installation and up to 5 GB for full installation.
HFS+ and HFS are the standard volume formats for Mac OS X.
RH EL supports ext2,ext3,lvm,swap,software RAID and vfat
if you want for support for HFS+ you can download the HFS driver patch for your kernel version. you can get the patch for 2.4.x kernel from the following link

http://sourceforge.net/projects/linux-hfsplus

i suggest to use ext3 file system.

I have a dell dimension 4100 with 128 mb of memory. I am looking to run RHEL 4 and I am wondering if I just buy another stick of 128 mb memory and put it in, will that amount up to 256 mb of memory (the required amount), or do I have to buy an individual stick of 256 mb of memory.

Thanks for you help!

128MB + 128Mb = 256Mb
don't understand the confusion
RHEL on a Centrino 512MB is very happy i've seen..reckon 256MB may push if you wnat some of the Serevr software additionally
